Mississippi Excellence in Education Awards | Nominations

The Mississippi Association of Educators will present the second annual Mississippi Excellence in Education Awards Friday, March 1, 2019, at a gala scheduled for the Jackson Convention Center.  This red carpet, black tie event will honor public school educators from Pre-K to College. Eight winners will be recognized for their dedicated work in education.

Award categories are for Pre-K – 12 teachers, Education Support Professionals, Administrators, Early Career Educators, and Higher Ed. Your support of this event and nominations will help make this gala a great success.

Importantly, nominations are due no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018.  The honorees will receive a complimentary banquet ticket and one for a guest.

THE AWARDS

TEACHING INSPIRATION AWARD
Honors creative, inspirational and effective teaching. Involves the community in celebrating teaching excellence.
 
ESP OF THE YEAR
Recognizes the efforts of the Education Support Professional (Non-certified staff) as an integral part of the school climate. 2. Helps the community recognize the contributions of Support Professionals within the spectrum of the education community.
 
HIGHER ED OF THE YEAR
Recognizes the efforts of a member of the Higher Ed community who has raised the level of excellence for a higher ed institution through research that has broadened the perspective of the students of that institution. (and/or) 2. Recognizes the efforts to guide students into the field of education.
 
ELEMENTARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Recognizes the teacher who has raised the level of excellence in elementary school through effective and innovative teaching. The teacher has gone above and beyond to educate the whole student.
 
MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Recognizes the teacher who has raised the level of excellence in middle school/jr. high through effective and innovative teaching. The awardee has gone above and beyond to educate the whole student.
 
HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Recognizes the teacher who has raised the level of excellence in high school through effective and innovative teaching. The teacher has gone above and beyond to educate the whole student.
ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR
Recognizes the Administrator who has raised the level of excellence in his/her school through effective and innovative leadership.
EARLY CAREER EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR
The Early Career Educator Award recognizes an early career educator who has demonstrated the use of best practices to improve student achievement.
