Jackson, MS — The Mississippi Association of Educators has released its Report from the Front Lines, a compilation of state testing stories submitted by educators. MAE President Joyce Helmick distributed copies to the members of the Student Testing Task Force, which met Tuesday, June 19, at the Mississippi Department of Education to begin studying the state-mandated process.
“In May, we sent out a request for educators to send in their stories,” Helmick said. “A total of 30 responded, each with compelling and sometimes heartbreaking anecdotes of the toll that state-mandated testing is taking on students and educators.”
“Responders represent big schools, small schools, and all areas of the state,” Helmick said. “We were pleased to be able to provide their perspectives on this issue to members of the task force and others.”
