Q & A

Describe specific actions you have taken and how those actions positively impacted student learning, social-emotional well-being, health, and/or safety.

My number one goal as a Paraprofessional is to be a student advocate and help foster a positive learning environment. I continuously reaffirm my students that they are in a safe place and cheer them on when they are faced with difficulties.

Describe specific actions you have taken and how those actions have positively impacted families and/or the local community.

As a single parent, I started a tutoring service to help single parents in my community. This initiative has been a great benefit, allowing me to empathize with struggles and provide valuable support.

Describe how your engagement and activism with the local or state union/association have positively impacted ESPs' professional stature, stability, and/or effectiveness.

As an active board member for my local MAE/NEA organization, I advocate for my colleagues' concerns and work to address them. Recruiting more members and providing guidance on organizational matters are also part of my responsibilities.

Describe specific actions you have taken and how those actions have positively impacted colleagues at your school campus, school district, or worksite.

I maintain a positive work environment by being a soundboard for my colleagues, assisting administration, mentoring new paraprofessionals, and actively engaging in various committees like PBIS.
